My REAL name is Ethel .. but for most of my 90 years, I've been known to most of my family simply as"Sis".

I can't talk to you now, dear...I have company...call me back after a little while....

...but NOT during 'PRICE IS RIGHT' !

Now...where was I...?

Oh, yes...I was born in 1918... August 27...just as World War One was coming to an end..I was the second of ten kids...my older brother was named ERNEST.

That was also the year of the great influenza pandemic...it killed more people worldwide than the war. My family was at Mt.Airy, VA. near Lynchburg...a lot of people there were sick and many died, including some of my relatives.

My mother helped by fixing meals for sick people. Back then everyone was very afraid of getting sick. They didn't go inside of sick people's houses...just left the meals by the door. My granny WOULD sit with RELATIVES who were sick.

That was a bad year for my family..but things got better the next year...(yawn)
