Pixton Unveils World’s First Remixable Animated Comics at South by Southwest Interactive 2009
User-generated website leads the next generation of interactive comics
AUSTIN, Texas – March 13, 2009 – Pixton Comics Inc., the leading developer of interactive web comics, announced today the world’s first remixable animated comics at South by Southwest (SXSW) Interactive Festival in Austin, Texas.
A first-of-its-kind experience, Pixton users will soon be able to quickly and easily create animated avatars and comics, ready for the world to view and remix online.
“Pixton has already broken new ground with its award-winning comic creation software,” said Clive Goodinson, creator of Pixton.com. “You design every aspect of your comic right on the page, clicking and dragging your characters into any pose. You can format your comic as a traditional three-panel strip or a page-spanning epic. Nowhere else can you do this.”
Pixton has a powerful and intuitive click-and-drag interface that makes it easy for anyone to make comics and animation. It works in any web browser, on Mac or PC. Animations are edited and previewed in real-time, then automatically rendered to video when complete. Once published, animated comics can be posted to social networks, embedded in blogs, and uploaded to video-sharing websites.
“I’ve had fun developing the technology that makes all this possible,” said Goodinson. “Our community is really excited to bring their comics to life. Pixton animation opens the doors to a whole new world of interactivity and collaboration on the web.”
Pixton is a finalist along with Flickr, StumbleUpon, and others in the SXSW Interactive Web Awards presented by Adobe. Pixton is also exhibiting at the SXSW Interactive Trade Show in Booth 208 from March 14-16, demonstrating Pixton animation on a giant touchscreen.
